After 49 years knocked off a 50-year sentence, STARCAR legend OJ Simpson is suiting up for one last season — and one final shot at freedom.
Under STARCAR’s Fast-Track to Freedom™ program, inmates can reduce their sentence by five years per season raced, plus an extra month for every driver eliminated during competition. Simpson, who debuted with a 50-year conviction, enters his farewell season with just one year left to clear.
“One more season, and I’m done. That’s the justice system.” Simpson told reporters, stepping out of his blood-red #32 Bronco.
Simpson is a five-time STARCAR Cup champion and holds the all-time league record for Most Drivers Killed Via Vehicular Manslaughter (23). Known for his signature move — the Cutback — he’s solidified himself as fan favorite among viewers and private prison investors alike.
“This is what rehabilitation looks like,” said STARCAR commissioner Bubba McGee. “OJ’s a proven winner. A model inmate. A marketing juggernaut.”
This year’s farewell tour includes the Star-Mart 500, the Hurtz 250, and the final race: the Los Demonios 500, where Simpson is expected to cross the finish line and, if all goes well, granted his immediately release.
“He earned it,” said fellow racer Steven “The Dream” Wonder, who had his visor removed after losing both eyes in a clash against Simpson. “Just keep him behind you. Or ten feet underground.”
Fans can celebrate with limited-edition merch, including replica gloves, flaming hats, jerseys, and pit crew jackets. A farewell foam glove is already trending.
At 78 years old, with 9 seasons, 23 kills, Simpson isn’t just driving for sport — he’s racing the clock.
“If I finish clean, I walk,” he told reporters, tightening his gloves. “But if someone wrecks in front of me… well — that’s just racing.”
